Ahhh ~ I should really get to bed. I only got four or five hours sleep last night and have been up since six.

But first, today's words of wisdom:

TEA
Thank you for the birthday wishes yesterday everyone!
(My profile page now has a trio of cupcakes on it! *omnomnomnomnom* :D)

Aw, Jonny, Rob & Paul stopped by last night on the off chance we we're in (we were since I didn't feel up to going to the open evening at college) and dropped me off a lovely apple cake Paul had made. It is AWESOME. CAKE.
(Unfortunatly Dave had to wake me up to see them because I had nodded off upstairs while reading and then resembled some kind of zombie when I shuffled downstairs...)

We have managed to get a cheap weekend car hire so we are off up to Scarborough this afternoon to see my folks and help/hinder my sister moving house. Will probebly post all over twitter if I feel inclined.

Hope you all have a good weekend :)

Well, I'm technically not 27 until later this evening which means I have a about 8 hours to do all the things I wanted to do while I am still 26. Or I could just sit around watching movies & drawing, which seems to be the current option XD Hey, I'll do what I want today!

I got a CUPCAKE! from [info]drazzi - thanks! And some cards including a card with a kingfisher on it from [info]emmythegrape, tis lovely thankyou. Might have to find a frame for it.

The mystery parcel turned out to be this lovely Labyrinth book from my wishlist sent by Dave's family. Awesome :D

No real plans for today, just chilling out I think.

I will be 27 tomorrow ~ Oh no! I have been telling people I am 25 for the last year, so I guess I will be telling people I am 26 in the coming year. It's not that I'm vain, just confused & in denial.

I have a bunch of cards & a mystery amazon parcel which arrived this morning. I've been very controlled & saved them all for for tomorrow although I have been poking/shaking/sniffing them :D

I need to stay awake in order to get my sleeping pattern back! I slept in yesterday which meant that I ended up staying up until half one last night watching Mad Max & then pratting around on the internet.

When I did go to bed there was a lot of noise outside, and I ended up leaning out the window looking towards the trainline (almost next to our house) There was a scene that reminded me of the start of Jurassic Park where they're moving the velociraptor, complete with guys in hard hats. It was actually a ballast cleaner in operation and my god it was loud! D:

Today ~ house cleaning (boo!) & copying from photos in order to practice colouring light & shadow (yay!)

First I'm gunna watch some more Primeval the plot of that show is completely silly, but there's just something about rampaging dinosaurs in the Forest of Dean which appeals to me XD

I should update ~ about stuff ~

College: Interview went okay. That place is a lot easier to get to from here than Nottingham Trent Uni's countryside campus, and this one is in Derby. It involved getting the train the Derby and then a short bus ride. I even made a friend on the bus :)
There were quite a few people there for interviews with the animal care department. It was more of a quick chat actually. Then they offered me a place on the course, which is good, but of course I only have a position on the waiting list & have to hope someone else drops out. The problem there is that I won't find out until early September :(
There's a year long conservation course at the same place, so I'm going to apply for that since I've been told I can always swap course if room opens up on the animal care, and because I was thinking of doing it afterwards anyway. Maybe I can just do things the opposite way around.

Dentist: Then I was at the dentist for my fillings yesterday, which was just *so* fun. Dave couldn't come with me because he was working longer :( but I went all on my own! However it took me ages to leave after because my legs were like jelly & I got the shakes. I came home & couldn't talk for ages. Then today I slept until midday.
Next week: Root canal! :D ohgodohgodohgodohgod...

But at least when I couldn't talk or eat I was making with the artwork which I need crits on.

Colouring test sketches

clicky!
A couple of colouring tests done over the last couple of days with markers ~ I love my markers, I'm really enjoying getting a painterly effect out of them :)

I'm kinda chuffed with how the hair & wings came out (of course, my scanner murdered the colours slightly). I've actually almost finished this now, it has a background & everything! (I realised I have been neglecting my backgrounds lately) The pose is a bit off in places I know. Dave said 'Wow, she's got really big legs' I informed him that she was just a chunky girl. He then said her knees looked like a butt. Dave is now banned from commenting :/

Then I tried colouring this sketch of Alice I did with a black pencil crayon in a similar way ~ I really like the way it looks, I'm tempted to do my comic like this. I'm going to try a proper picture in this style & see what it comes out like :D

What do you guys think?

hrm...
Had a bit of a fail the last day of so. my toothache has been pretty bad at causing unpleasant headaches :( I guess it's a good thing I'm going to the dentist again on Tuesday.

Oh, I had a bit of an annoying letter through the post from the college - saying that they are 'in a waiting list situation' for the course I was interested in (which basically means that they can't guarentee there would be a place on the course for me if I was offered one) and asking if i still wanted to attend the interview.

I phoned to say that I still wanted to attend, and would it be possible to interview for the other (conservation certificate course, only 1 year) which I was interested in as well? The lady I spoke to said she would see what she could do, but also told me they had a similar situation with the animal care course last year & everyone who was offered a place did get on the course.

My interview's tomorrow so we'll see what the situation is. Speaking of which I still need to figure out how to get where I'm going :/

Voting has opened for the contest I entered the other day, so you DA people can go vote for your favourite entry :)

When Dave taught me the Welsh for microwave was "Popty-ping"
('oven that goes ping') I was thrilled, of course it's a popty-ping!

This led to us re-naming the kettle a "Rumbly-click"

Oh dear. David Carradine's passed away :(
I shall link to my Death Race crossover comic in his honor.

I was very cultured last night & joined my friends book group in a cafe/bar in town to discuss. We had been reading Maus, next we are reading Atonement. I've never gone to a book group before, it was really enjoyable & I'm looking forward to reading things I wouldn't normally think to read.

I wish I could discuss/debate the books here but honestly discussing things in writing has never been my strong point. I make FAR more sense explaining what I think about things in person :(

So I was hoping to start updating this EVERYDAY but so far I am failing at that XD

Quick, bullet pointed one because I am tired:

* The lovely weather finally went here. Temperature is a bit cooler and I'm kinda glad because the heat was messing with my sleep a bit.

* I WENT TO THE DENTIST! On Monday. This is a BIG deal because I am terrified of the dentist and haven't been for years - but when you've got to the point where you can only eat squidgy food & pizza has become a challenge you've gotta go. Dave had to come with me to hold my hand. Luckily the dentist was awesome. The bad news is that I need 4 fillings and that the bad tooth causing my toothache needs a root canal or an extraction D:
(I'm going to go for the root canal because I want to try and save the tooth as opposed to having an awkward gap between two teeth X( I'm back in on Tuesday because he wants to sort out the fillings on the left first.)

* I have an interview for the college course I was on about (Animal Care) on Monday. Places are filling up but hopefully I'll be offered a place.

* I made art: here for a DA friends contest (last minute D:)

That's all. Sleeps now.

I haven't posted all week, because I had a bit of a crap week and any posting would have been emo time. I might post about it later.

The Black Books marathon last weekend was a lot of fun! We didn't quite die, but we did have to finish watching it the next morning. We seemed to spend most of the weekend over at our friends house. After Black Books we went for a walk around the nature reserve (where we ran into a ...Peacock...of all things.) After that we went back to the pub to watch Eurovision. it was a lot of fun because the pub had it's own voting system :D (The Ukraine won on that system because they were HOT. XD)

On Sunday I went to their house again to watch Quantum of Solace (Dude, that wasn't very good... :() and I guess they aren't totally fed up of us because they are coming round for dinner/movie in a bit :) Glad because I just really needed to see some people & have a distraction today.

Other than that I have been working on commissions and even *gasp* drawing *GASP*...Legion of Kats *GASPLES!*...Don't get too excited now D:

Choose an episode of anime or television series you have on your computer. Make sure you're certain you want that one, you cannot change or mind once you skips this step. DO NOT TELL YOUR FLIST WHAT YOU CHOSE.

• Make note of how long the episode is here -->29:23
• Ask your flist to choose a time between 00:00 and whatever the length of your episode is. Be specific, (ie: 19:11, 21:09, 02:42)
• Make them an icon using THAT FRAME ONLY no matter what it is. And remember, you can only use that ONE episode you chose previous, even if the person posting isn't familiar with it.

I'm still in my PJs...and haven't even brushed my hair or had anything to eat (mainly because there's no milk -_-) I am having a super!lazy day.

Going to have to get dressed soon though, unless I want to go to the supermarket in my PJs as we need to get nibbles and things for the Black Books Marathon tonight, which may end sometime tomorrow. If we are still alive.

I'm going to have to figure out some snacks that I can eat because my bad tooth & I have come to some kind of standoff where it won't let me eat anything harder than pizza and I still won't take it to the dentist.

I feel like one of those man-eating lions who have started attacking slower, easier prey because of an injury. No ice cream is safe.

Ahhh...I've had such a good weekend ~

Went round to [info]gloomie_cookie & [info]lost_in_moose's house on Friday evening & watched some random not-rom-com called Someone Else (Dave drank two bottles of wine & was promptly ill...-_-)

On Saturday I went to a Starship Troopers marathon at my friends attic cinema, of which I finally took some photos:

There were about eight of us up there this time. I could never get bored of the first movie & it was great to see it on a bigger screen. The other two were...amusing. Especially the third one. WHAT was that all about?! Anyway, a good day laughing at movies & eating junk food. Later we relocated to the local where others joined us, including Dave who'd finished sleeping off his hangover :)

Today I had work in the morning & then later went to see Coraline which I enjoyed lots. (I haven't read the book but I will do, I hear it is quite different.) I must have liked it because I've made an icon, see *points* :D

To top it off there was a really awesome full moon on Saturday night. I tried to take photos but of course they didn't work out. It was really, really beautiful. Then as we walked home we saw a hedgehog up close & a fox :)

Life is good.

Snowdonia

Now a proper update ~ ! Last weekend was Dave's birthday (he's 28 ~ ho ho ho) and we went camping in Snowdonia. The weather was a bit crap on the Friday, so we were tourists and went on the underground tour at Electric Mountain instead of going walking. It was pretty interesting.

Camping was FREEZING. I haven't been that cold for ages! Really need to get some better camping gear.

The next day the weather was better so we enjoyed a nice scramble up Tryfan, after a bout of car-sickness (I seem to get that all the time recently - why, WHY?) D:

Photos! (Not of car-sickness) )

I've been looking into going to the climbing wall in Nottingham since we got back. I want to have lessons ~
